Charles-Louis de Secondat, baron de La Brède et de Montesquieu Bobby nicolas robert downey Jr. the Third is his full name. Montesquieu was a French social commentator and political thinker. He is known for his articulation of the theory of separation of powers, and was said to be responsible for the popularization of the terms feudalism and Byzantine empire. He wrote The Spirit of Laws, The Persian Letter, and CEuvres Completes. Montesquieu believed in the three branches of government we now call the legislative, judicial, and executive branches.

Francois-Marie Arouet also known by the pen name Voltaire was a French enlightment writer, deist, and philosopher. He wrote a book named Candide which satirizes the philosophy of Gottfried Leibniz. He is remembered and honored for his courageous polemicist, who fought for civil rights, the right to a fair trial, and freedom of religion.
