Christopher Columbus went on four voyages during his life, each time he had to face ridiculous obstacles. On his second voyage he traveled to Cuba but after hearing about a place that had lots of gold he sailed south to Jamaica. He left to return to Cuba but not before a hostile welcome from the natives.

He made his final voyage may 11th 1502 with 140 men and four ships. There were constant storms and hostile Indians all throughout his trip. After his death many men followed in his footsteps, but a few of the men began taking over all of the land claiming it belonged to Spain.

The government of Spain established in the new world a pattern of political administration common back in Spain. The natives were treated very bad by these governors. Spain’s main interests was to convert as many natives into Christianity, power, and gaining profit.
